Sustainability
As the city's oldest hotel in a privileged location in the heart of Zurich, directly on the Limmat (which, with no fewer than five nostalgic bathing establishments, continues the tradition of 19th-century river bathing to this day), the theme of sustainability is particularly close to our hearts. When we tell our guests that they can swim in the Limmat and that the water is even of drinking quality, they are often very surprised. Our own stork pontoon almost makes our guests think they're in Venice - except that here in Zurich, the water is crystal-clear! As far back as the 14th century, wine and vegetable merchants would stop off at the Storchen after shopping on the nearby vegetable bridge. For us at Zurich's Storchen, it's all about taking into account and reconciling the needs and concerns of people, the environment and the economy. Sustainability is a process - a long road we're certainly taking. It's not enough for us to comply with legal requirements; we want to set an example and go beyond them. We summarize our efforts in our Sustainability Charter. Discover an overview of our measures in the areas of economic, social and ecological sustainability. Here, everything is done to ensure that this special place remains as beautiful for the next 660 years.
